Mustang Sally's Now Workshop for Women: PR, Social Media and Hyper-Local Media

Mustang Sally’s Now workshops are geared toward women in Essex, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties. We hold the workshops on a bimonthly schedule, after our regular business hours (6:00 - 8:00 pm) in our service department. Since starting last March, we’ve grown tremendously and often see 25 - 30 very active participants. We do not charge for the workshops but we do ask that participants consider making a donation to The United Way Northern New Jersey.

As many of our participants come from small/mid-size businesses, non-profits, health, education and other sectors outside the larger corporate community, we find that we are ALL responsible for communicating and marketing our companies. With that said, and especially with SMBs and non-profits, many people are aware that social media is “free” and the best way to spread the word … but many other strategies and tactics exist, and that’s where we’ll begin. In general, we’ll discuss:

  • How to use effective hyper-local media
  • How to create media alerts and press releases … and when to use them
  • Branding and when it’s time to re-brand
  • How to use media platforms like HARO to connect with reporters

  • Andrea Conway - Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, United Way Northern New Jersey
  • Rachel Zuk Gary - Director, Media Strategy & Communications at ONE World Sports
  • Sonali Pundalik - Digital Strategist at Splendid Circle
  • Mike Shapiro - Publisher and CEO, The Alternative Press (TAPInto)

Date: Wednesday, March 9th

Time: 6:00 - 8:00 pm *
